Before the Conference
Speakers Should:
1
Check the FWEA website to confirm the session date, time, and location for your presentation.
2
Prepare and finalize your PowerPoint presentation.
3
Limit your speaking time to
22–23 minutes, leaving
7–8 minutes for questions, speaker transitions, room movement, and travel to other sessions.
4
Anticipate being contacted by your Moderator to coordinate final arrangements.
5
Follow the arrangements established by your Moderator for loading all final presentations onto a common laptop. Because presentations are often finalized shortly before the conference, Speakers may be asked to bring their presentation on a USB or thumb drive and meet with the Moderator before the session.
6
Upload your biographical information and photo before the conference so your information can be displayed on the website and in the conference app.
At the Conference
Speakers Should:
1
Locate your session room in advance and become familiar with its setup.
2
Meet with your Moderator as arranged to load your presentation onto the session laptop.
3
Arrive at your session room at least
15 minutes before the session begins. Assist the Moderator as needed, confirm that the presentation equipment is working, and meet the other Speakers.
4
Be proactive and cooperate with the Moderator so the session begins on time.
5
Limit your presentation to
22–23 minutes, leaving
7–8 minutes for questions and transitions.
6
Work with the Moderator to keep the session on schedule. Do not run past your allotted time or begin the next presentation early. If a Speaker finishes early or does not attend, wait until the scheduled start time for the next presentation.
7
An Assistant Moderator may also serve as the room monitor and assist with lighting, doors, attendance, and CEU/PDH documentation.
